Mr. Carlos D. Fowler

Carlos D. Fowler is currently the band instructor for the Southwest DeKalb feeder program (Bob Mathis Elem., Chapel Hill Elem., Rainbow Elem., & Wadsworth Magnet Elem.). He is a product of the DeKalb School System, having graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1992. While at Southwest DeKalb, Mr. Fowler was a proud member of the Marching Panther Band, serving as trumpet section leader. He also participated in the symphonic band & jazz band.

Mr. Fowler received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Education from Florida A&M University. He studied conducting under the leadership of Dr. William P. Foster & Dr. Julian E. White, & trumpet under Dr. Marty Robinson. As a member of the world famous ‘Marching 100’, Symphonic Band, & Pep Band Mr. Fowler always strived for perfection.

Before being employed by DeKalb Schools, Mr. Fowler worked for several record companies as a recording engineer & producer. He still continues to do free lance productions.

Mr. Fowler has been the band director of the Southwest DeKalb Elementary Cluster since the 1998-1999 school year.  The former cluster was comprised of Bob Mathis, Browns Mill, Chapel Hill, & Rainbow Elementary Schools.  Under the direction of Mr. Fowler, the Browns Mill Concert Band performed for the GMEA Middle School LGPE (Band Festival) over a six year span.  They received all superior ratings for six consecutive years.  Mr. Fowler is currently the band director of the newly aligned cluster which is made up of Bob Mathis, Chapel Hill, Rainbow, & Wadsworth Elementary Schools. 

Mr. Fowler is a member of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Georgia Music Educators Association, & Music Education National Conference.

Mr. Fowler always strives to motivate & prepare his students to achieve their highest potential in music and in life.
